One definition of emergency

"In case you don’t know me well enough, an 'emergency' means that something really bad happened, you don’t know what to do, you thought about it, thought through your options, thought about other people who might help you, called them, they couldn’t help you, you prayed about it, didn’t get an answer, considered your options which should include leaving the country or doing something that might land you in jail, decided that leaving the country wouldn’t work and you’re too pretty to go to jail. If you did all of that and it’s not Monday at 8am, then call me." -- via email from owner of a company, in regard to an office move

Welcome Twitter followers!

Welcome Twitter followers! I've noticed a number of new friends following QuotesBlog on Twitter within the past few weeks, so I figured I'd say hello in case you stopped by over here.

I'm using Twitter to re-purpose quotations from the archives here on a somewhat daily basis.

Faulkner and Illusion of Philosophers and Fools

"I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you might
forget it now and then for a moment and not spend all your breath trying
to conquer it. Because no battle is ever won he said. They are not even
fought. The field reveals to a man his own folly and despair, and victory
is an illusion of philosophers and fools."

-- William Faulkner, The Sound and the Fury (affliliate link)
